If you’ve ever caught yourself talking about your dog more than your mates, buying them better outfits than yourself, or signing birthday cards with their name—congrats, you’re officially a dog dad.
Some people are on the fence about the title. Is it too much? Too cheesy? Mate, just own it. Being a dog dad isn’t just a label—it’s a lifestyle.
Here are 7 undeniable signs you’re part of the pack.
1. You talk about your dog. A lot.
It doesn’t matter what the conversation is about—you’ll find a way to bring up your dog. New job? Great, but have you seen my dog’s latest trick? Talking about holidays? Here’s why my dog deserves one more than me.
And let’s be honest, we don’t just talk about them—we talk to them. Full-blown conversations. They understand, don’t they? (The answer is yes.)
2. Your dog sleeps on your bed
Maybe you said “never” at first. But then came the puppy eyes, the tiny paws, the head tilt. Now, somehow, they own the bed, and you’re curled up in the corner like a guest in your own house.
3. You don’t get Cat people
No shade to cats, but if given the choice between watching dog videos or, well, anything else, we’re picking the dogs. Every time.
4. You buy your Dog better clothes than yourself
Some people spend money on designer trainers. We spend it on matching hoodies for us and our dog. Priorities.
5. You sign cards with your Dog’s name
Once upon a time, you sent cards from just yourself. Now, it’s “love from me and (insert dog’s name).” It just feels wrong without it.
6. Your camera roll is 90% dog photos
Scrolling through your phone is like flipping through a dog fan account. Blurry zoomies, dramatic snoozes, and way too many close-ups of their nose. And you wouldn’t change a thing.
7. Your dog has their own social media
One day you were just posting the occasional dog pic. The next, they had their own Instagram, complete with hashtags and followers. And honestly? They deserve the fame.
Speaking of dog influencers, my own pup, Luna, is out there living her best life online:
